The Ogun State police division have arrested a 56-year-old quack doctor for allegedly carrying out an abortion on a mother of four, which led to her untimely death. The said suspect goes by the name, Salahudeen Jamiu and he is the owner of a maternity clinic in Ota, in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the state. He, however, was arrested on October 24th 2019, following a complaint which was lodged at the Onipanu Police Division, Ota by the husband of the deceased.
The husband of the deceased told the police that he received an urgent phone call from one lady called Dupe Odebunmi who claimed to be a nurse, informing him that his wife, Kehinde Olakitan, was sick and placed on admission at the clinic which belonged to the suspect. He stated further that on getting to the clinic on that particular day, no one was in the building. n his way home, he discovered the corpse of his wife in front of an uncompleted building close to his house.
During investigation, the quack doctor admitted carrying out an abortion on the deceased. He added that the mother of four was brought to him by her friend, one Dupe Odebunmi and she consented to the abortion which he carried out on her. He later confessed that he dumped her corpse in the front of a house close to the woman’s residence out of fear of being arrested.
The corpse of the deceased woman has since been deposited at the morgue of the Ota’s General Hospital for autopsy.
