Akeredolu sacks aide over misconduct

The Governor of Ondo State, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, has officially sacked his Special Assistant on Political Matters, Mr Augustine Pelemo today Monday 7th October 2019 for gross misconduct. Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) is a Nigerian politician and lawyer who is also the present Governor of Ondo State, Nigeria and also a Senior Advocate of Nigeria who became president of the Nigerian Bar Association in 2008.

This news was contained in a press statement which was issued and signed by the state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr.Donald Ojogo.

The statement read:

“This directive issued by the Governor is with immediate effect; and it stresses the need to instil sanity and discipline and finally the nip in the bud, divisive acts and tendencies detrimental to the existing cordiality and cohesion in the administration led by the governor”.

“While he wishes him well in his future endeavours, the Governor further directs Pelemo to hand over every government property that is in his possession to the deputy chief of staff without further delay.”

The sack of the political aide came shockingly barely 24 hours after he posted on his Facebook page a congratulatory message wishing the wife of the deputy governor, Mrs Ajewole Agboola Ajayi, a happy birthday but referring to her as the “Acting First Lady of Ondo State” which did not sit well with the Governor.

This singular act just made him lose his position as this was a subject of gross indiscipline towards the wife of the Deputy Governor which the Governor detests.
