The Nigerian Army confirmed that it has arrested 16 Boko Haram terrorist members, including two top commanders of the group during a sting operation. The Nigerian Army Operations Media Coordinator, Col. Aminu Iliyasu, said this in a statement today Tuesday 22nd October 2019 in Abuja. He stated that the terrorists were arrested at Pulka in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
Col. Aminu Iliyasu also said that the arrest was made in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force. It was noted that preliminary investigations revealed that some of the suspects participated in the attack on Pulka and Gwoza, including several killings of some Nigeria Police personnel some time back.
According to the Aminu IIiyasu, he is glad to make it known that two of the arrested Boko Haram criminals have been on the army’s most wanted Boko Haram list which has been earlier published. The names of the Boko Haram members are Lawan Garliga and Bayaga Manye, serial 41 and 90 respectively. Others include the Boko Haram Logistics Supplier which is Umaru, Goni Agwala, Momodu Shetene, Hassan Audu, Usman Manye, Ali Lawan and Modu Mallum.
Col Aminu IIiyasu also made mention of the other names as he advised other armed forces to continue the intense search and put pressure on the criminals and ensure that there is no hiding place for them and their collaborators. He congratulated the troop on the successful operation.
