Obinwanne Okeke (InvictusObi) arrested for $12m fraud in the US

It has been reported that the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) has arrested ‘Forbes 100 Most Influential Young African’ Nigerian Obinwanne Okeke in the US for $12m wire fraud and internet/ computer crime.

Okeke is the Founder of Invictus Group. Under this company, Okeke has businesses in construction, real estate and energy based in South Africa, Nigeria and Zambia.

Nigeria Super Eagles recalls Kelechi Iheanacho for Ukraine friendly match in September

Nigeria Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has recalled Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho for Nigeria’s game against Ukraine on September 10th taking place in Dnipro. Iheanacho, 22 was overlooked when it came to the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

Winnie Byanyima is the new leader (executive director) of the UNAIDS

Winnie Byanyima who is the current head of the UK Oxfam charity, has revealed that she is leaving Oxfam to take a new role at the UNAIDS (United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS). According to the UNAIDS website, the ‘‘UNAIDS is leading the global effort to end AIDS as a public health threat by 2030 as part of the Sustainable Development Goals’’. In their welcome letter, they stated that ‘‘Ms Byanyima has more than 30 years of experience in political leadership, diplomacy and humanitarian engagement’’.

Ebola now curable after new trial treatment cures Ebola symptoms in Congo

Dr Jean-Jacque Muyembe has announced a new proven Ebola cure with his team that has already cured 90% of Ebola patients whose symptoms were reported early. “From now on, we will no longer say that EVD (Ebola Virus Disease) is not curable,” Jean-Jacque Muyembe told reporters. He is the general director of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) federal medical research institute. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), ‘’The Ebola virus causes an acute, serious illness which is often fatal if untreated’.
