Five individuals were sued over alleged abduction of neighbour’s daughter

On the 30th day of October 2019, five individuals, including three women, appeared before a Tinubu Chief Magistrates’ Court for the crime of allegedly abducting a 17-year-old neighbour’s daughter.

These individuals have been identified as Helen aged 19, Daniel aged 22, Sylvester aged 24, Blessing aged 28 and Mary aged 45. These defendants are facing two counts of conspiracy and abduction, which they all pleaded not guilty to the offences. The prosecutor ASP Edet Okoi,  told the court that the defendants committed the offences on October 11th, at Ibeju-Lekki area in Lagos State.

ASP Edet Okoi further told the court that the defendants had allegedly abducted a neighbour’s 17-year-old daughter and they unlawfully took her to Lagos Mainland and offered her a job without the knowledge and consent of her mother.

“This girl we are talking about is 17-year-old  and she ran away from home after her mother reprimanded her, but one of the defendants, Helen, took her in. After this, Helen got this girl a job at Ojo barracks without her mother’s knowledge and consent while her mother was worried sick and searching for her everywhere and she never told her that the girl was with her,” Okoi said.

The prosecutor further said that the offences contravened Sections 269 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Tajudeen Elias however, granted the five defendants N100,000 bail with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case until November 13th 2019.
