The honourable Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, today, Friday,8th of November 2019 identified human errors as the leading factor and cause of road accidents in the state which have been occurring more frequently.
Governor Obiano made this known at the ongoing 2019 “Ember Months Safety Campaign” which was organised by the Federal Road Safety Corps in Onitsha. The theme of the campaign is: “Road Safety is a State of Mind, Road Traffic Crashes is Absence of the Mind; Stay Alert, Stay Alive.” this programme was held in order to tell people more about how to prevent road accidents from occurring repeatedly.
The delectable Governor said: “The current Road traffic crashes or fatalities we have been experiencing in the state, do not just happen, they are majorly caused by human elements. Whether the road is good or bad, which we reasonable have a large amount of good roads, it is the attitude of the human element, either on the part of the driver, passenger or pedestrian that determines whether a crash will occur or not. The state government has set up a committee to investigate and come up with a lasting solution to the incidents of fire outbreaks due to road traffic accidents that is currently going on in the state.”
The governor who was represented by his Deputy, Dr Nkem Okeke, further urged FRSC to enforce strictness to people in adherence to traffic rules and ensure effective traffic management during the yuletide.
