A Brazilian based Nigerian was caught trying to smuggle into Nigeria 5 Kilograms of pure Cocaine from Brazil at the Nnamdi International Airport Command of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA.
The man who has been identified as Ibeh Augustine Chukwuma had arrived at the airport via an Ethiopian Airline, with a maximum ECOLAC bag which was later discovered to contain the illicit drug consignment. The 38-year old Ibeh Chukwuma has been a resident of Sao Palo, Brazil where he worked in a construction company since 2011.
According to the suspect, he had beforehand approached another Nigerian living in Brazil for financial support for his forthcoming traditional marriage which is to take place in Nigeria and he was promised the sum of N500,000 if he could deliver the drug consignment to an unknown person who will, however, receive him at the airport in Abuja.
Ibeh Chukwuma is a primary school leaver, whose parents are aged. He finally admitted that he was fully aware of the content of the bag but he had offered to carry it because of his pressing financial need. “The name of the man is Emmanuel Paul. He deals in all kind of foodstuff along with operating a restaurant. He is my friend and I had earlier asked him for financial assistance for my marriage and he said he cannot give me the money until I carry the Cocaine. He actually told me that it contains drug but I had no choice” He said.
