A man who has been identified as Ojonugwa Ojomeje, the leader of a three-man armed robbery gang and a highly wanted criminal, has revealed that he used his in-law’s police uniform for robbery in Ikorodu area of Lagos State.
It was also disclosed and acknowledged that Michael’s in-law whose police vest and face cap was used for the operation was not in the state at the time the robbery took place.
Ojonugwa Ojomeje, a 29-year-old of the south origin was arrested alongside his accomplices Emmanuel Michael (24) and Moses Ogeh (27) by the operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, Police Division, Lagos State.
The leader of the gang, Ojonugwa Ojomeje and Moses Ogeh were both caught wearing a MOPOL vest, police vest and fez cap while trying to escape after collecting a bike, ‘Okada’ from a rider in their disguise.
The victim, on releasing the bike popularly known as ‘Okada’ in this part of the country to the robbers, walked a few steps away before he started crying out for help so as to get his bike back and alert the public.
This drew the attention of some people who quickly placed a call to the operatives of the Rapid Response Squad in the area. The robbers on seeing the Rapid Response Squad tried to escape but they were chased and arrested a few meters from the scene.
After due investigation, the robbers confessed to the crime and they will soon be charged to court.
