Naira Marley’s trial stalled as Defense Demands More Documents

Popular Nigeria music artiste, Naira Marley has once again been arrested by the Economic Financial Crimes Commission for the continuation of the alleged fraud case he had been accused of several months ago.

The trial of Afeez Adesina Fashola who is popularly known as Naira Marley was before Justice I. Nicholas Oweibo. The sitting in Federal High Court Ikoyi, Lagos was stalled on Tuesday 22nd October 2019, as the defense counsel brought in a “motion on notice” asking the prosecution to front load more documents for evidence.

The all time zanku crooner and soapy artiste,  Afeez Adesina Fashola was arraigned on May 20th 2019, on an 11-count charge of credit card fraud which was preferred against him by the EFCC. The defendant pleaded not guilty to all the charges and this lead to the commencement of trial.

He, however, before the trial date went on twitter to show his disgust against the body of the Economic Financial Crimes Commission and the law at large as he also tweeted that he needs the telephone numbers of the president and the Godfather of the All Progressive Party (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The news of his recent arrest has however been on the lips of most Nigerians as they find it frustrating that he was released only for EFCC to re-arrest him. His fans are however not in support as they feel the country is in an uttermost economic crisis and arresting Naira Marley is just a form of misplaced priority.
