NIMC confirms National ID card renewal costs N5,000

National Identity Management Commission NIMC)  says the renewal of the National Identity Card will cost five thousand naira (N5,000) which will be payable through remita.

This information was disclosed by its twitter handle (@nimc_ng) which was posted from Abuja on Monday and confirmed by a staff of the Corporate Department of the NIMC.

The NIMC also said that applicants who desire to renew their cards can visit any NIMC office within their vicinity with the required documents to obtain their card. These requirements include proof of payment by having a 5000 naira receipt made through remita, a well-written application letter and National IdentityNumber slip which is to be submitted to the NIMC office. The card renewal costs N5,000 payable through remita.

It was also explained that the main focus of the commission was to ensure that all Nigerians are enrolled and have adequate identity proof by issuing them their National Identification Number (NIN) which is the most important token of the enrollment.

According to the National Identity Management Commission, all Nigerians can now authenticate their National Identity Number through the NIMC verification portal.

“Your NIN can now be authenticated and approved through our verification portal without your card” NIMC official stated. “You will be given your cards when funds have been approved, please do bear with us and Your NIN is generated immediately for you upon successful completion of your enrolment and due registration”

NIMC also made it known that it is important for every citizen of Nigeria to have a national identity number which will now be used for most online registration.
