The Lagos State police command rescued an Uber driver, Abiodun Balogun and his passenger, Odisha Ginika, who were discovered to be unconscious in a black Hyundai car parked at Shobande Street in Akoka area of Lagos state.
Police Public Relations Officer of the state division, Bala Elkana said that the policemen were on patrol when they saw the victims both unconscious in the car, he also added that after removing them from the car, they were both rushed to hospital, while the vehicle was impounded for appropriate inspection.
According to the investigation revealed by the public relation officer, the victims became unconscious as a result of gas leakage from the vehicle’s air conditioning system.
Elkana stated that:
“Our team from the Lagos state police, Bariga Division, while on patrol along Shobande Street, Akoka area, noticed a black Hyundai vehicle parked along the road with two occupants, one Mr Abiodun Balogun, 32, and Miss Odisha Ginika, 21 years old unconscious on the driver and passenger seats, respectively”.
“The victims were rushed to the hospital to receive urgent medical attention, while the vehicle was removed from the scene for appropriate inspection. Both victims have been resuscitated by the medical team on duty and have been later discharged from hospital.
“Our investigation revealed that the man is an Uber driver, while the lady was his passenger. They both became unconscious as a result of a poisonous chemical substance, gas that they inhaled due to a leakage from the air conditioning system.”
